LA Historical Society

The Los Angeles Historical Society is a multi function facility. The program of the project encapsulates a large lecture hall, public galleries, cafe, private archives and classrooms for students, administrative offices, and living spaces for in residence faculty. The design separates public and private space by allocating the public zone to the lower half of the project, common areas in between, and private zones to the top. There is publics space for gatherings, farmers markets, or gala events underneath the building. Eco-friendly design is incorporated into the project, the skin of the building is covered in a perforated material that allows for air and light to move into portions of the interior, cutting costs and energy usage for heating and cooling.
